WHAT IS ADHD?
ADHD, or Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, is a neurological condition that affects both children and adults. Symptoms of ADHD include difficulty paying attention, general restlessness, and/or impulsivity.  Adults with attention problems frequently make the following observations:

In addition, many adults with ADHD experience problems with memory, anxiety, and/or depression.  Also, difficulties with relationships, a lack of advancement in one's career, an unstable job history, substance abuse problems, and  a general pattern of obsessive thoughts or compulsive behaviors, are frequently seen in adults with the disorder. Furthermore, adults with the disorder often suffer from low self-esteem arising from a long history of difficulty meeting life goals.

WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO IDENTIFY AND TREAT ADHD?
Undiagnosed and untreated ADHD can have devastating effects on an adult. The symptoms and secondary problems associated with ADHD often cause significant impairment in academic, work, family, and social functioning, and can greatly affect one's sense of well-being, self-esteem, and productivity. Many patients report that the diagnosis and education that follows an assessment is a profoundly healing experience. In addition, proper diagnosis and effective treatment of ADHD can dramatically improve concentration, memory, learning, work efficiency, self-confidence, and social functioning.
